Duty Station: Kampala with possibilities to travel within the entire project area

Period: 3 months

Starting Date: 15/04/2017

Main objective: The consultant will be responsible for the implementation of technical backstopping to partners across the regions.

Reporting to: the SKY Chief of Party and ultimately to the AVSI Country Representative

Specific duties:

· Work closely with the team to ensure that SKY implementation is smooth and on track;

· Technically backstop partners across the regions as requested and as needs arise;

· Assist in particular the partners Luigi Giussani High School, COWA and MPI in setting up the project as per MoU respectively signed;

· Provide technical support agribusinesses in the implementation of activities that support youth work and entrepreneurship;

· Work closely with the agro-institutions and agribusinesses to facilitate internships and practical training approaches to enhance youth work readiness and entrepreneurship skilling;

· Coordinate closely with the team others to ensure that other programme implementations are synchronized and adds value;

· Proactively engage in strategic thinking on how to make the program succeed;

· Present a final report of the work undertaken including project advise on challenges that might arise and sustainable measures to mitigate them;

· Carry out other related duties assigned by the supervisors

Essential Requirement:

· University Degree in Agri-Business, Economics, Marketing, Small Business Management or related field.

· At least 5 years of professional experience in agribusiness, and/or value chain and market access related consultancy, and/or analysis/research of agribusiness and/or regional socio-economic development projects, preferably in Uganda.

· Experience in working with public sector, private sector and donor organizations on institutional development or similar projects will be an asset. Proven work in Uganda an added value.

· Experience in monitoring and evaluation of performance of business units and/or regional/local or community socio-economic development projects is desirable.

· Experience in training, teaching or mentoring role.

· Experience in marketing, market research and management.

· Experience working in an entrepreneurial environment or as owner/manager of a small business.

· Experience of work in farming zones, social entrepreneurship, small business and/or private sector engagement.

· Experience in innovative product development.

· Resourcefulness, strategic thinking, creative problem solving and basic financial management skills.

· Shares knowledge and experience.

· Ability to perform a variety of specialized tasks related to Results Management, including support to design, planning and implementation of program, managing data, reporting.

· Focuses on result for the client and responds positively to feedback.

· Proven ability to follow through on objectives and produce timely results with minimum supervision.

· Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.

· Knowledge or experience in value chain development, especially within the Ugandan context highly reccommended

· Previous proven experience in similar work will be helpful;

· Fluency in English is required;
